Ok im a total newb at this. Ive grown up with paint, so excuse my "expertise" in this subject.

I've been told to download photoshop, so ok, I think, this at least sounds easy.
But someone told me to get cs2.
but the other person told me to get cs3.

And im confused, because i have nfi on the difference between them, and wondering if anyone could help/reccomend the best one with listed reasons.

The person who recommended cs2 said cs3 is too complicated and has alot of useless things on it

no not too complicated almost same
i would just go cs3 more upadated n better
not more complicated just they changed layout a lil but its easier to use when used to it
