When I try to save ti as a .gif after i'm done with animation frames.

It doesn't save and stay animated.

What do I do?

I`ll add something. The gif format operates 256 colors, and gradient is a thousands or even milions of colors, so the gradient animation will not work so well, colors will not look so nice as you expect.
