A softbrush is a regular default round brush with soft edges.

To those who are wondering, an ''X'' brush is simply done by creating a new file, adding an X (font of your choice) and set as brush.

hm...this is what mine came out as...but i'm not satisfied with the liquifying effect...i didn't do enough i guess XP a bit too much negative space...nice tut tho =]

I don't know if people are still reading this tut, but I am trying this but it won't let me turn on scattering when I'm in the smudge brush? can someone help me..

where do i find this 'x brush'
im new to PS n yeah. do i have to dl it somehere or what.

You make your own.
Make a new document, 50x50 or something. Make it transparent (you'll c in the settings when making it it'll ask what u want the background to be)
Then add soem text, put an x in the middle, then go to edit. Define brush. Ok. ok. And there ya go. check ur brush list, you have an x brush.
