What is a c4d, how do i use and get them?

Its a piece of an abstract render that you use to enhance/add effects to your canvas
The usage of it is explained in various tutorials, just read through them and you will find out
You can get them off of the most popular sites with renders, just google them up ( google images also work )

Hehe, not awful but I think the colors need some work and the lighting is off. With some small fixes and perhaps more detail or a more detailed background, it could work. Also, you may want to ease off the "Image Apply Image" effect a bit. It can sometimes be overpowering and lower the quality. Keep practicing, try other tuts as well!

I didn't apply image :\

Multiplied him (Alt + Drag) and Gaussian Blurred to make the background. Duplicated that layer and radial (zoom) blurred it and placed that image over everything so the original render and the c4d are sandwiched between the two. It has a Black-nothing gradient from left right and the text is just cut out of that and c4d to show the original background behind it.

Just can't do anything decent with actual people. Renders of characters (or album covers like my sigs now) are easy to work with and turn out better, just can't seem to get it right with the lightning and stuff.

Hopefully getting a harder tut done over my next 2 days off. Until then, keep practicin!
