You're using exactly everything he said? Make sure you are using the charcoal brush size 36 then lower its size down to 23.

Then follow his settings on each screen shot he shows. If you did that and it still doesn't look the same you probably left out an instruction that he said.
Or you messed up somewhere on the settings of the brushes. I will check his settings out though make sure he has them right.

it looks similar now just i have more of the brush than his done


Try trapping the mouse don't drag it when you use the brush

/edit I meant tapping xD

thx i got another question now
how do u make layers blend
i have 3 layers and its the top 1 that show and i cant get them to combine with eachother

You pretty much want an applied image I assume? Or no?

well its duplicate layers of the same image but i want to blend em
like 1 is the original
1 is smudged
1 is linear dodge

So you wont to combine the smudged layer and the linear layer? These are two different images right that you're doing this with? Anyway
unselect all the layers but the two you wont to conjoin and then go to image and click I think it says combine visable layers or some crap it will force them
together. Now if this isn't what you mean... lol Cause I work at my own pace and you just want to make them look right then pull the linear layer over the regular one
thats smudged. Let me know if this is what you mean

/edit And sorry for mis confusion its been awhile since I've used photoshop xD
