Actually I'm pretty sure I know to use them right, but I don't want the colors to blend. To take an example I find your sig really dull...
Don't take it as a personal offence or something. I just took an example.

And I don't want mine to be a mess and not compliment each other properly, you know?
Also, it's dull because that's the mood I'm going for, look at my signature and think to yourself.. would a vibrant signature full of life and color be proper..?
I've reached end results about like yours, just blending together because my colors used are reflected throughout the whole thing.
