I didnt read all through this but, wouldnt it look better if u add the depth afterwards, in stead of first perspective and then the thickness?

Doing it that way destroys much of the 3D effect. Actually, you can simulate perspective towards the Z-axis vanishing point by slightly decreasing the size of each successive layer. This is more time-consuming though, but is good for making text seem gigantically large and towering.

I seem to recall us saying that your sig was fast and easy, and you in turn went on about how difficult it was to make...

n1 on proving us right.

Are you a professional troll, or do you just play one on TV? I seem to recall you saying I did it one way in an obvious attempt to dismiss me, and I in turn went on to merely correct you. This is a tutorial, not a pissing contest.

You never cease to amuse me. I said you could do it one way, which was easy, you in turn said it was way harder the way you did it, then posted a tutorial showing just how easy it is.

I never said it was harder. I just said the final image was more than (and I quote):

Text, stroked dropshadow, outer glow?

I really wish these forums had an open search so I could see how many of your 52 posts per day are attempts to reinforce your obvious superiority complex. If you really have that much of a need to feel better than me (or anyone else, for that matter), I can MSpaint a self-portrait so you can throw darts at it or something. So far, all I've seen out of you is cleverly positioned and blended layers of others' creativity, vector traces of photos you found on the internet, and a serious penchant for sounding like a pompous ass.

Feel free to post a PSD showing how you can achieve the illusion of depth and (and more importantly, volume) using only a drop shadow. That's right, put your pixels where your mouth is.

I was going to continue this tutorial with more advanced text effects, but I think I'll wait until some other, less vocally hostile members express their desire to learn instead of espousing their indignations at my methods.

Something's just not clicking... LOL.

I got a method like this, but it uses layer styles, link to an example here ; http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc315/MurderColor/shonniegfxartist.jpg

Nice tutorial man. Not something I think I'll need but its a good skill to learn either way. Going to be away from photoshop a week but when I get home I'll probably give it a shot bier.gif

Yeah, this effect is more for practical applications, not necessarily artistic in nature. When you've had to do as many logos as I have, you really start to find new ways of presenting text.

A large portion of the graphics I make I use to mix into video for projection at clubs, raves and concerts. Here's an example I made for a drum and bass DJ/Producer:
