Should have covered channels and the extract filter since there's a huge buildup of these kinds of tutorials for extraction methods (pentool, magicwand eraser), heck we have several here already :P
Channels is such an awesome way to render complex objects to make HD objects so I wish more people knew about it, and it doesn't hurt to know that the extract filter is there too.

Thanks for sharing nonetheless, some people will find this useful for sure.

pen tool and a lot of hard work... depends on how much details I need in the hair... if I dont need a lot then I erase some and if I need the whole thing I pen the hell out of the stock

channels only work if there is a high contrast
but if you make sigs you can work with the stock though

you choose whatever channel has the highest contrast and then multiply it through image calculations

if the stock isn't already on a one color background, then you brush around it to make it one color which makes it easier to work with channels

a lot of professional photo shoots have models on a plain background so it's usually easy to render... there are obviously varying circumstances which need adjustments

but rendering hair is by far easiest in channels
