Hello Everyone...
I've realized many of the people in this forum (both requesting sigs and offering them) have different ideas regarding the names of the different types of shapes for sigs out there.
This guide is meant to act as a standard for people to refer to when asking for a signature.
I hope it helps!

Signature style refers to 2 main aspects of the sig:
1. The shape- the outline of the sig, and not the content of it!
2. The genre- the type of content in it, the type of effects used, type of brushes/stock photos used etc.

First of all let's review the different shapes of sigs out there: (A guide for the genres will be made later)

I hope this guide helped!
As a side note, all the sigs shown here are premades of mine and are
FOR SALE!

It's okay, it could be much better.

btw, I would call it a rectangle isntead of square, no big deal though...

And the example you used for the drop shadow signature is bad since the y is going out of
the signature at makign it a pop-out. ;)

thank you for your comments... he's right everyone... (it's just called a normal sig more often tho so no biggie)
and yes that y's out i didn't notice it so THAT one is a popout but you get the point.

any other comments?

(btw donations always welcome !)

Your borderless signature example is not borderless, there is a border on the bottom. Most if not all of your definitions are iffy as well, but a decent guide I suppose for requesters who have no idea what they're talking about. Drop shadow signatures need to be defined much more clearly seeing as how both popout signatures and borderless signatures, well almost any type of that style use drop shadows, thus putting them in your drop shadow signature category. Examples could be improved by far, considering a lot of your examples are combinations of the different styles.

*Example of borderless signature by shenk:

notice how it also has drop shadows to enhance detail

note i said that the dropshadow sig is a SQUARE sig with a dropshadow and not ANYTHING with a shadow...

about the borderless, you're right, couldn't find a good enough example so had to use that one... thank you.
