idk the word for it, and im new to making sigs/pics through photoshop but iv learned alot


but im trying to make a sort of "faded" pic
where a character will be in the background and sort of blending in
with a main character offset in the pic

i tried doing this by upp'ing brightness some etc. but it didnt come out looking right


any help would be appreciated

In the layer window, select the layer that you want to be faded, and then lower the opacity by dragging the little bar in that same window.

ok give me a sec, im working with paint.net and gimp for my editing
im going to try that real quick


in paint.net i cant find where u edit the opacity ...

same for gimp, cant see an opacity tool for the pic, maybe im doing somthing wrong?
the brushes, line/curves etc have the opacity option tho just not the image

Oh I assumed you were using photoshop, I visited paint.net and I can't find where the actual thing is, then again I didn't look too hard
Just keep looking I'm sure there's some way, probably in the layer window, look for something that says opacity

does anybody have a program suggestion thats open source that i can dl to be able to do this technique i believe learning how will make my sigs/pics look much better

I dunno about open source but Gimp is nice and free.

gimp is open source i believe

and im using it right now


like i said, the tools, airbrush,brush,pencil etc all have the opacity selection

but u cant edit the image that u loaded itself from what i can see

Oh right yeah, I forgot you were using it, my bad. But umm, I'm almost 100% sure you can change the opacity of images in Gimp..Lemme google it, one sec.
