ok so I have noticed that if I save a sig I make as a PNG file it makes the file size much bigger (this is due to what?) and to reduce the size of the file I tried saving it as many different things. they all basically are the same but lets say I only have a choice between GIF and PNG file types. If I save it as a GIF the size goes down some where around 70kb lower then it was. This reduces it plenty low enough to be aloud in the size limitations. I would have no problem useing GIF but it has low quality issues then.
heres just an example:

GIF:http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n72/CatNCobra1/ichigosig-1.gif
is there any way to keep the file size low enough without making the quality go to shit?
P.S. I dont use photoshop of gimp I use PaintDotNet if that helps you at all
