Charles isn't a young gun, I remember him even b4 some of the older guys in ufc,

But Charles has way better striking then Islam

Islam looks physically stronger

Grappling might be even

Charles has the experience

Islam is the new generation,

I think I'm going Charles on this one, he has alot more sharp tools,
Islam is a specialist in one thing

Every guy who's been able to hit Charles hard is a decent or pretty good striker them.selves

I disagree that charles has the advantage grappling. The kind of grappling that Islam has is BRUTAL and it smothers world class grapplers.

That being said I still think Olivera will be able to use his wide array of tools and win a grindy tough decision

I think skills in grappling are about even

But Islam is stronger, n people don't wanna admit it, but being strong and skilled helps u control people,

BJJ is a art where the small man can beat the big man, n its not super rare

But their are diminishing returns at a certain point of size difference ,

I highly doubt the best 125 bjj guy could out grapple a skilled big man like werdum

I think khabibs power and skills, was how he man handled everyone he faced except for 1 fight I didn't watch,
He fought a guy who was physically bigger then him self and supposedly khabib actually struggled to take him down
Gilson tibeau,

Joe rogan and the other announcer thought khabib might have lost that fight

Yeah that's completely fair.

I just dont see Olivera having the advantage on the ground aside from a slick unexpected submission attempt, which he can definitely pull off.

I think takedowns aren't quite as indicative for a grapplers skillset as people like to think. That ground control and heavy heavy top game are big assets too, and it's something that Islam can do. A lot of that isnt even strength, it's technique and balance and leverage and all of the things that make grappling beautiful.

/e Islam's bad habit of not keeping his elbows tucked might be scary though

Charles has had the advantage the past few fights that dudes just would not go to the ground with him. Islam will have no problem taking it to the mat if it needs to go there. Will be an interesting matchup.

e/ Charles also has 4 losses by KO/TKO to Islam's 1. And Islam has 4 KO victory's on his record, he can hurt him on the feet.

Totally agree, most people talking Olives Submission game (which is true) but he always hurts them on the feet first, that's where I think he would be most effective vs. Islam

But I don't think it matters too much as Islam will Smesh, I just like bringing up some narratives along the way

e/ somebody's win streak is coming to an end, Islam at 10 Straight Victories and Olives with 11 Straight Victories. Dum dum dum & the list of people Olives has defeated is definitely higher tier than Islam

Islam will add the first big name to his resume at 280, but you are absolutely correct.

But what a fucking fight, if Charles can pull this out he becomes the undisputed LW GOAT. If Islam wins we may see the most dominant LW championship run ever, either way I am soo hyped.
