ive seen this develop for a bit. hes a handicaped fighter ( missing a arm ). and his last 2 major fights he got his ass beat. ( gatje and last nights fight ).

should he be allowed onto a ufc card? into the ufc? im all for right to fight ect. but its kinda hard to see a handicap get his ass beat by a elite mma fighter no?

After last night i really don't think so. I mean true enough it may habe been just an off night or whatever else, But the way I see it the idea of getting into the ufc is to eventually become the best, to fight the best fighters etc, and these dwtncs guys are not necessarily the best guys, or possibly just haven't reached the full potential yet, regardless of any of that the factor of the matter is Nick lost, and he got dominated for a good portion of the fight as well.

So no, I dont think he should be in the ufc, yet, maybe give him another shot on the contender series, maybe a run on tuf if they keep it going, but as for right now it takes more than an inspirational story to make a run in the ufc.

Kinda sad they gave him a guy who is 4-0 with a big wrestling background as an opponent. but still, im impressed with his skill.

It's crazy how the representatives of this country have such shallow views.

The guy has talent but fighting with a disability diminishes integrity from the fight. It's almost as bad as having women fight men. UFC is about the highest level mma. A disability limits that level from being achieved which contradicts the UFC.

It's like Leonides telling the hunchback that you got a good stroke but not all of us are meant to be fighters.

I'm surprised that any organization would let him fight. But then again, their standards are lower than UFC.

You see, I can't help but disagree with this, especially becauase of the major success he's had outside the ufc, other than a fight with a guy thats currently #7 in the world. I think he deserved an opportunity as much as any man that was willing to work hard at it, and I personally thought newell had a very good chance at winning going into the fight. It's too bad it didn't work out for him this time, but i still think he should get another shot at the contender series, If not right away maybe after a big rebound win or two.

What are they supposed to do? Give him special treatment? Only give him fights that are to his advantage?
I commend the guy for living his dream and getting into the octagon. But to me, this is just another example of the UFC turning an inspirational story in to a freak show to make a couple bucks.
No different then CM punk (you know, other than nick did better and cm punk isnt an inspiration)
