Hello guys,

Did anyone participate to a Bjj competition before? I’m doing my first one NoGi as an intermediate at the end of november and have a few questions.

1. How did you prepare mentally?

2. How did you prepare physically?

3. What was your game plan?

4. What was the outcome?

1. How did you prepare mentally? Just won a mma fight, I've done wrestling/Boxing/Kickboxing, was confident that my wrestling skills will help me stand a chance. this would be my first jits tourny.

2. How did you prepare physically? I was already in fight shape, our gym was competing in nogi naga in vegas. Everyone on my team won 1st except for me !!

3. What was your game plan? My game plan was not to get submitted and see how far i can go, I was a brawler/striker and pressure fighter. told my coach not to waste time teaching me submissions, but to teach me on how to escape and get back up to brawl.

4. What was the outcome? Shot in for a takedown, took the guy down, got a point for it, then my opponent kept going for kamoras, and i was rolling out and defending them! he got a point each time for submission attempts! so it was like 1-15 LOL! spoke to the guy all he said he did was master a kamora trapping system from 9th planet.

it is a really fun experience, just go in there give it all you got! You roll at the gym at different paces, this is the same thing with just a new body. Jitz tourneys are really cool/relaxed environment.
