WWE Universal Champion Finn Bálor injured at SummerSlam

Inaugural WWE Universal Champion Finn Bálor suffered an injury to his right shoulder against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam, WWE.com can confirm.

The injury came in the course of Bálor and Rollins’ match to determine which Superstar would become the first WWE Universal Champion, specifically when Bálor absorbed a running powerbomb to the barricade at the hands of The Architect.

“He hit the wall during the match, dislocated his shoulder and was able to put it back in himself in a split second,” said ringside physician Dr. Chris Robinson. Bálor was able to finish the match, but Dr. Robinson noted that an MRI yielded results earlier today showing “a possible labrum tear.”

The champion is currently scheduled to receive a surgical consult that will determine the extent of Bálor’s injury, as well as if and how his reign as WWE Universal Champion will be affected.

Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com reports that there was a backstage altercation between Brock Lesnar and Chris Jericho following the conclusion of Lesnar’s match with Randy Orton at Summerslam.

Jericho was said to be concerned about Orton’s well-being and asked producer Michael Hayes about the finish of the match. When Hayes wouldn’t give him an answer, Jericho reportedly said something along the lines of “that’s bullshit.”

Lesnar was walking back though the curtain and heard Jericho’s remarks. The two allegedly got into a heated exchange of words and then a brief physical exchange before Triple H broke it up. At this point, Vince McMahon also had to step in and tell Jericho that everything was a work and to be professional. Triple H apparently defended Jericho by saying that Jericho was just standing up for himself and Lesnar was the one that started the altercation.

It’s believed that Orton knew in advance about what Lesnar was going to do with the punches/elbow shots at the end of their match.

What if the whole balor thing is a work. He starts out Raw talking about the injury and how he has to vacate and then is like well I'm no Seth Rollins and I'll die defending this belt before I vacate it.
