Which is bullshit.
Edgar should've been fighting Aldo.
McrGregor vs any of the top 5. If he won, he could get winner of Aldo/Edgar.
He jumped a lot of people, which is downright disrespectful to anyone involved.
I'm not even saying McGregor is a bad fighter, obviously he's not. But he hasn't proved himself against any noteworthy opponents, and he got a fight against one of the most dominant and longlasting champions because of his mouth.
I'm not even mad at him, tbh, although I do dislike him. I think it's shit the way the UFC treats one of their champions in favor of some quick cash/hype.
Poirier was top 5.
Edgar or conor didn't deserve a title shot without facing each other...
Edgar beat Olivera, a washed up bj penn, and after last night what looks like a washed up cub Swanson... So he didn't necessarily best anyone impressive either.
Edgar vs mcgregor would have been best because there would have been a very very very clear #1 contender. But such is life.... This fight is going to sell like crazy and the ufc made the right business move.

As a promotion, you have to cash in when you can. I said before the UFC does a good job at building fighters and their records when they want too. Some people get thrown to the wolves, others are pampered. Someone like holloway will earn his way through his division like most, Mcgregor gets a title shot beating someone most people dont know who is [ sivir ]. Its the way the fight game works, gotta put people in the seats at the end of the day. Rematches get stale , especially when the champ has ran through every one.
I mean... Conor has absolutely destroyed everyone they've put in front of him.. He has to get credit for that. If he was getting decision after decision he wouldn't be where he is.. But he finishes everyone in rather devastating fashion, add in how he talks and you have a real superstar. He has 5 ufc fights and 8 total rounds for god sakes lol.
