because they never knew how, all of the stars we knew growing up were self made. Sure they got pushes but everything said on the mic and their gimmicks were created by them or their mentors not hollywood writers. WWE gives zero freedom unless you are already an established name. Its kind of like kids fresh out of college not getting jobs because they have no experience... well how the fuck do they get experience? ON THE JOB.
They need to give people a chance and if they fall flat on their face then the crowd will boo them, just like it used to be. Wwe never took a hit when someone sucked, it was always the talent that had to get over or get fired. You cant have a full roster of austins and goldbergs, feeding one guy and giving him the big push is fine but thats not how you build up everyone. People need gimmicks.
Right now the only way they keep people relevant is by "mma math", this guy beat this guy who beat that guy so he must be important. I dont ever remember caring about wins or losses, it was always the characters and the match itself that sold the tickets.
Look at Cesaro for example, he did a great job getting himself over and slowly turned face but what happened? Creative had decided that he was a heel so they paired him with Heyman, who without a doubt is one of the greatest managers of all time, but was busy promoting Lesnar and Punk. He could cut a 5 minute promo talking about how great Punk is, "and oh btw, here's Cesaro"
Fast Forward, he and Kidd were getting noticed as a good team when Kidd got injured and Cesaro went solo. He had great matches almost weekly but he never got promo time and never had a chance to build a character. Now he's pretty much back to oblivion.
You're eight that superstars need to get themselves over, I change my statement to wwe forgot how to let them do that
