It may have been asked already but why do you divide by 200?

Somehow, I'm missing where that number plays in. Is that standard for betting?

Just curious :)

Great job otherwise.

I'm not sure if this is a "standard" for betting. However, the use of the division is so we can get the ratio to a X:1 ratio, where X is the average of the two odds... this is primarily for a D2JSP betting guide, and although it should certainly give many beginners a good stepping stone towards understanding odds, by no means do I consider myself an authority on betting. :D

It's to split the difference between the odds of the two fighters. If fighter A is -350(3.5:1 in favor of fighter A), and fighter B is +300(3:1 in favor of fighter A), it becomes obvious that there is a discrepancy in the odds between the two fighters, meaning that the odds are going to be different depending on what fighter you're betting on. This is unique to bookies/betting sites, and is how they make their profit as the third party in the bet, but obviously doesn't work when two private parties are betting against eachother, so to be fair to each bettor the difference is split between the two, and when using money lines, 200 is the magic number that achieves that.

-350(3.5:1) + +300(3:1) = 650 / 200 = the difference between the two odds, which is 3.25.

However, if you were to reduce 350 to 3.5, and 300 to 3.0 to begin with, and add them together (6.5), you could then just divide that number by 2, and this would accomplish the same thing, and perhaps be more understandable?
