It's worth noting that we've just had the one year anniversary of the WWE Network so maybe wrestlers have received their first royalty cheques for the Network. Could explain the meltdown in the past few days if wrestlers are getting a tiny amount compared to non-Network years.

I have doubts about this. I really believe that Brock does not want to go back to UFC. But plans to use his possible return as leverage against the WWE and mostly Vince. The only problem is, I really don't see Brock sticking around if he isn't going to be champion. I don't picture Brock as the kind of guy who would put Reigns over just to please Vince.
