Condit had done a couple mma fights.

But ye... that wasn't such a good idea lol.
Still... if Condit rematched Souwer today... it wouldn't go any better for him... his striking just ain't on that level.
And the running gameplan like vs Diaz wouldn't work out for him either.

Very long ago... 2003. It was his first sanctioned fight ever too.. Getting thrown to the wolves is an understatement lol.

He had a bad weight cut too, was cutting 7 pounds but he had no idea how to cut weight back then.. Didn't eat anything for 4 days to cut 7 pounds lol. Then went a few rounds with Souwer.

edit: 5 rounds actually.

Souwer was 12-3 and it was Condits first fight lol

Soo in other words my statement still stands that I'm sure condits movement and striking ability today would stifle them

Also Condit's movement is so overrated... just cause he done it 1 fight against Diaz who is flat footed and doesn't kick... come on... :D

GSP walked him down easily anytime he wanted... you think the best kickboxers/muay thai guys would not be able to do that?
And murder those legs while they're at it?

Watch Nieky Holzken vs Raymond Daniels their 2 fights... and Daniels is a lot better/smooth than Condit/Conor and all those guys you mentioned.

Oh I was very much talking about stand up...

Obviously with wrestling and bjj mixed in it's another ball game.

They will easily dismantle a guy like GSP in the stand up, but good luck winning a mma fight against him... especially the guys from the Netherlands.
Hardly anyone has any wrestling... Overeem really is an exception that he's all allround.

Joe Schilling is proving it's much more difficult then the arm chair quarterbacks make it out to be

Lets be clear though... Joe Schilling is not a top level kickboxer... lol... (yes I know he has a few nice wins, but he was mostly protected from the real top because they needed an American star).

Lol just because he isn't the top guy or 2 doesn't mean he isn't top level. He has better striking than 97 percent of the mma fighters out there and is still getting his shit pushed in more often than not.

Well he's also not that experienced really.

Most top level kickboxers and muay thai guys got well over 100 fights.

Schilling is 18-7... and a lot of those wins are against no name Americans.
He has 1 good win basically, Artem Levin... who he then lost to in the rematch.

So.... yes, he is for sure not a proven top level kickboxer... they fed him some good results in Glory together with a few other Americans... that's all.

Comicsman, nobody is saying that Muay thai isn't a great style. Imo if I had to recommend a single martial arts to anybody looking to fight or just defend themselves, I'd always go to muay thai as my first option.

Just because you're a good muay thai fighter doesn't mean you're going to be a good mma fighter.

Saying this guy would go in and destroy possibly the greatest striker mma has ever seen who's on track to be one of the top p4p fighters is silly. They're 2 different worlds. Let it go unless the guy comes out and states himself that he is coming to mma just to fight Conor.
