Watch this:

Still might give it to Yan, but it’s not as offensive of a decision as I thought when watching live.

The question is, who do you think wins on the rematch?

I love O'malley but I think he loses on the rematch 9 out of 10 times, if there is ever one.

That was the general opinion in the Sterling vs Yan rematch as well. Yan is his own enemy right now. While he may have won this fight, there was zero reason it should have been close enough to leave to the judges.

my opinion on this actually changed.

prior to this fight, i thought in a 5rd fight omalley would have 0% chance, but now in a 5rd fight i'd prob give omalley the slight edge - he def showed out and i think with more rounds he could have done even more good work but idk

that said i still give this one to yan and it will go down to me as a massive robbery (massive robbery in the form of a decision that was incorrect in a competitive fight against two great fighters who deserve the correct outcome)

Tbh it wasn’t that close, Yan had north of 5 minutes of control time on the mat. Sean is a great fighter, Yan beat him.

For this fight, we’d have to see how the corner dealt with that cut and how it stood up to getting hit again. With that cut, there’s no way Yan survives another 2 rounds.

yaaa maybe im giving a lot of weight to that particular cut in regards to 5 rds but omalley's stock rose in my eyes by a good bit, even though he should have lost.

like in a perfect world where yan gets the decision I still think omalley stock is higher than it was, simply bc of the pedigree of fighter he just stood 3 rds with

yan is so clean with his boxing and if you can compete with him in that aspect you can compete w anyone in the division in that aspect of fights

Would you believe only 6 significant strikes while in control? He bullied O'Malley a lot on the mat, but he didn't actually do much with his control time. Most of that control time was in RND 2 as well. Hmm.

It’s a very low number, but Sean was defending. Just unable to get back up, but still a dominant position for over 5 minutes, still unable to fathom how they robbed Petr.
