MMA is a sport now, previously, it was a bunch of bar brawlers in a ring looking for a pay check which is the shit you like to watch. It has evolved light years and you and possibly not even I would be watching MMA to this day had the ufc not banned stuff like curb stomping etc. UFC wouldn't have been able to get sanctioned as a sports organization and would've died in the 90's if it weren't for those rules. Which as much as people like to bitch about it, mma would slowly fade away and cease to exist without the ufc , definitely when the sport was young.



There's a reason most fighters don't even like that rule, there's no reason for anybody to try to punt some body's head off their shoulders like a football while they're on the ground. It's brutal, prison fighting style shit, not meant to be in a sport that's becoming mainstream. That's like getting mad cuz they don't let boxers put bricks in their gloves to try to tear the opponents head off. We might as well let them bring knives to a fight too, I mean that can happen in a street fight as well and that's what mma is to you, just fighting.

Also I gave you arguments why ufc now is even less of a sport than PRIDE back in the day... at least they had tournaments, so that final spot is actually earned, not given.

Boxing is an old gentleman's sport with a strict rule set and limited weapons, aka only your hands and can only target above the waist.

Yes and MMA is now a sport, no longer a competition of which pure form of martial arts or which street brawler is the best. If you don't enjoy it as a sport then stick to watching kimbo slice videos on youtube. MMA had to evolve and has turned out to be it's own sport (notice specific mma gyms made to produce MMA fighters). The era of one dimensional fighters is over, it's not meant to be a street fight or a competition of which martial arts is the best. It's not taking a bjj guy and sticking him in the ring with a kickboxer to see who would win. It's now almost it's own form of martial arts.
