Yang Jian Bing, a 21-year-old fighter who was scheduled to compete today at ONE Championship 35, has died after his weight cut for the event.

ONE Championship officials today announced his passing.

Bing (5-1), a Chinese fighter who started his career on a 5-0 run before a June split-decision loss to Ze Wu in a ONE Championship tournament, was scheduled to fight fellow flyweight Geje Eustaquio (6-4) at today’s “Spirit of Champions” event in the Philippines.

However, officials canceled the bout when Yang struggled to make weight prior to Thursday’s weigh-ins. He never officially weighed in for the event.

I haven't seen many interviews with her; so I honestly don't know if she was just a bit buzzed, or is kind of punch drunk already.

I mean she's been in a fuckload of boxing fights...I hope she hasn't accumulated that much brain damage already.

Color me not surprised.

I've been saying it for years: stop weight cutting entirely by making the weigh-in part of the walkout minutes before the fight. I absolutely guarantee you that no one will risk cutting any weight, and people will be the weight it says on the balance.


Make a completely clear cut division of the before tutors and the afters, make new titles, forget the old ones, move on with a healthier sport.
