People are irate about this decision. Watching it live in the 3rd round when Yan got the last takedown, I was like welp it's probably Yan's win now. And then as they are lining up for the decision I look at my buddies and say "O'Malley could totally get a split here though."
RND 1 was competitive and close, RND 2 goes to Yan with 3/3 takedowns and doubled strikes, RND 3 goes to O'Malley almost tripling significant strikes and busting Yan open. Damage over control, which Yan had 1:52 control in the 3rd.
Not a robbery, just a really close fight. All gets scored Round to Round.. watching Live I thought Yan had taken it, but it was close enough and can understand the split. Yan needs to stop going to decision, a lot of people thought he "robbed" Sandhagen of his victory so.. 3 split decisions and 1 unanimous that a lot of people thought he lost, he just has a lot of really close fights.
O'Malley head strikes (63) to Yan's head strikes (24)
