[QUOTE=Chill,22 Jul 2011 20:40]FACT: he knowingly welched another sports bettor out of 1000fg and continued to attempt to play games at a chance at winning more with the intentions of running if he lost. The proof provided to the poker list runner and mma section list runner was solid and resulted in his Dual welcher tags as you see.
therefore in order to force him to right his wrongs by paying his scam/welch back, no mediator should hold his dirty fg until he pays back..
the poker section shuns any and all types of welchers due to this same fact, which is pretty common sense
Rules are no different there then here, winner wins, loser loses.. a scams a scam unless proven innocent and he's been proven guilty
you and anyone attempting to protect said welchers are misguided and wrong.

We can agree to disagree, and I welcome all discourse on the subject, all trolls aside.
Let me first add some retrospect on why he was added to welcher, and later moved to "welcher other"
Flicker was added to the welcher list because I flagged him directly to Lncarnaxim as I monitored the other scripts in addition to the S/A section of the forums. After I saw the discrepancy of evidence and frankly how poor the sports bettor list was ran it became my opinion that we should never accept their word, as the "word of god" for lack of a better term. We now use a new tag, which is unique to this sub-forum where we only alert the patrons of this forum that the user has welched in another sub-forum. We allow the end users to make up their own mind, instead of allowing the sole opinion of someone to ruin a reputation. I thoroughly enjoy our approach as I believe it allows our users to control their own forum gold, and who they bet with, instead of blatantly following the opinions of the other forum veterans. I can so far say, with confidence this approach has not encourage welching. We have yet to see a flock of people come here to intentional welch due to our lax rules, but there may be a few key notes of importance.
- We are by far one of the lowest traffic, and sparsely populated sub-forums due to the occurrence of MMA events on a fairly consistent once a month schedule.
- bets in this subforum are typically lower than others.
- Mediators are used on the majority of bets.
I felt it was important to provide a little background story and now to provide the real basis for my opinion.
I understand your argument that mediating forum gold for him in this sub-forum is "enabling" him to welch, by allowing him to partake in the community. I feel it would be a mediator's sole responsibility to protect our users BY mediating his transactions as opposed to disallowing him the service, and forcing him to go about on his own merits. I feel a mediator in this sub-forum has the responsibility of providing his/her service to allow safe betting. I feel that if we partake in favoritism to other sub-forums it really diminishes the rule of the mediator.
You can tell me I "protect and enable" welchers until you are blue in the face, but all I have done is provide a service to the community and put the power in the users to decide WHO they bet with.
I have allowed end users to say, yes I will, or no I will not bet with you based on X,Y,Z merit. I have only provided a safe method for them to act on their decision. By my definition I believe a mediator is only a neutral 3rd party, paying out bets to winners despite any other issue. I feel you are taking the issue beyond a neutral 3rd party, and really driving home an opinionated approach to mediating bets. I will actively do everything in my power to speak out against why I feel such opinionated mediating is a poor example to follow. - Adding more, length limited to warn %
