The rankings weren't around? How do you think they accurately matched people up then? Maybe the UFC website didn't list rankings like they do now (which is stupid imo), but there has always been a pretty clear group of guys who were in the top 5 / top 10 of their respective divisions....

idc what people say about chael, he was one of my favorite when he competed

he went 100% at all times, he never rested

he gave wrestling in mma a good name by never slowing down his pace

and he was the only person to ever have 2 fights scheduled at the same time (rashad / wanderlei) given the 2nd fight didn't happen due to them both abusing the shit out of roids, but yeah lol

There were no rankings. Joe silva just matched people up. But to say they were "top 5" is a lie, there were no rankings.

what do you mean he couldn't hang with elite of the elite? at middleweight he was a threat to everybody.. even in 2nd fight with anderson, anderson being 100% healthy chael was still winning until he slipped and got kneed in the chest..

he was a guy who could hang, but just fell short every time

at light heavyweight he couldn't hang with the elite, but that's understandable (nobody has beaten jones, and very few have beaten rashad..)


btw even if conor loses.. he lost to #2 p4p guy in the world that isn't saying much about him "hanging" with the elite LOL
ofc people will look at it like "oh conor sucks" even if it's a somewhat close fight just due to all the hype forgetting that aldo hasn't been beaten in forever
