Thank you lncarnaxim for all that you do

Edit: Expecially it's so underappreciated by most people.

Betting In The Martial Arts, Boxing, and Wrestling Forum v3.0

Disclaimer: This is a public service announcement that is applicable for this section only. The content of this post is solely the opinion of the thread creator. D2JSP does not support or endorse betting.

Betting Tips
If you're new to this forum, we recommend that you use a mediator. It may be slightly more of a hassle, but it helps ensure you receive your hard-earned FG. Make sure to take time to read their rules (usually located in their profile), as it helps them out greatly. More information about mediators below.

Avoid betting via PM without making a thread. Make sure both parties confirm in-thread. If you make changes to the bet, state the changes in-thread. When in doubt, put it in a thread. Make the bet as transparent as possible in-thread where everyone can see it. It makes it very difficult to determine if a welch has occurred if it is not visible in-thread. If you post a bet offer, make sure that both bettors have reached an agreement before going offline. This means either calling off the bet or solidifying the bet. Moreover, D2JSP does not endorse betting and will not tag a welcher as a scammer. When in doubt, use a mediator, that's what they're here to do.

Notice To All Users: Threads with bet confirmation confusions are being tracked. Any user that has too many "questionable" threads may be put into the "Welcher" or "Redeemed Welcher" column without warning. You are welcome to discuss disputes with lncarnaxim. Chances are though, if he's added you to either of those sections intentionally, you'll probably be staying there. Anyone that has observed the process of adding people to the active or welchers section knows I am reluctant to add people to either section without sufficient proof. Neither Merle nor I are overly comfortable with holding users' reputations in our hands. But keep in mind that just because I find something to be unpleasant, doesn't mean I won't do it. Peace. :D
Mediators
Currently there are the following mediators (in alphabetical order): FatZero, hATemOnkEy, lncarnaxim, and MerleHaggard. Remember to follow the guidelines listed in their profiles, especially in regard to sending FG. In addition to mediating bets, lncarnaxim will also oversee additions to the bettor's list and script. When using FatZero as a mediator, please follow the rules listed in lncarnaxim's profile.
Obtaining 'Active' Status in the MABW Forum
PM lncarnaxim with at least 7 bets from at least 5 different events. Links to betting threads are the best, but a screenshot of your gold log will be more than adequate.

Update: Please note that people will be removed from Active status due to forum inactivity. The list (yes, the whole list) will be checked periodically. If you have not posted in the past 50 days (in any forum on D2JSP) you will be removed. This will help keep the list current. A post every 7 weeks isn't that hard, is it? If you have been removed due to inactivity, you will need to resubmit betting links, SS's, etc...
Reporting A Welcher
lncarnaxim will handle the welching accusations. Please provide him with as much evidence as you can (screenshots of PMs/gold logs, links to threads) to assist him. Be warned that if you intentionally try to falsely label someone as a welcher, this will only result in your own name being added to the list. Misunderstandings do happen, but let's just all try to get along. :D

Update: If there is irrefutable evidence that a user has scammed or welched in another forum, he/she will be added to the welchers list. PM lncarnaxim if you feel someone qualifies. I will not add someone without proof, so be prepared to send/link screenshots, threads, etc...
The MMA Script
Like some of the other betting forums, we use a script that automatically updates users on betting status (Mediator, Active, Welcher, etc...). You can read more about the Firefox script here. Details on the Chrome plug-in are in this thread. These are the most current lists of bettor status in this sub-forum, so if you're using Firefox or Chrome, this is a handy tool. Additionally (when using Firefox) if you click on the "MMA & Boxing Status" text, it will bring up the most recent version of our Photoshop list. In Chrome, it will take an extra click to bring up the list. Pretty nifty, huh?
Calculating Betting Odds
Here is a thread for those of you that still have lingering questions about it. I myself tend to get confused with it at times, but with a little practice and perhaps even a calculator, betting odds should become pretty easy for you to figure out, at least for this sub-forum.
One Last Note...
We are doing what we can to make this forum a safer place to bet for everyone. These are not set-in-stone rules, merely guidelines that if followed, may prevent any misunderstandings about bet confirmation. Overall, we think we are doing a pretty good job, but if you have any questions, please post or PM. We welcome your input and know that we are not perfect (despite how we may act. Keep in mind that we are volunteers; we do this of our own free will, and work hard to make improvements. Suggestions and advice are always welcome. Happy (and safe) betting!

Ya, people that run lists don't get the props they deserve and often, as the case is with FatZero in the hockey forum, they get accused of being corrupt and dishonest.

I haven't spent enough time in the hockey forum to really form any type of an opinon on the mediation team there, or in any other betting forum for that matter, but lncarnaxim truly is a class act. He puts a huge amount of effort into helping the bettors of this forum. He doesn't put his face out there seeking attention, and actually very very rarely even posts in this section at all, and when he does he never disrepects anyone, or gets involved in arguments or flame wars.

Every once in awhile I have to throw a thanks out to him, because even though he doesn't do a whole lot of mediations, he really does help me out a lot. I couldn't do it without him. The load would just be too much to deal with. The job the mediators do is underappreciated as well, but at least a portion of their burden is witnessed by the public. This isn't so much the case with what he does.

Alot of people have issues with being appreciative to begin with, and with the childish/selfish nature of many of the people on this forum this is just amplified.
