Nurmagomedov is the future.

tbh anything with Cejudo doesn't interest me that much, his fight against Aljo was embarrassing for him after all his smack talk

Sure... doesn't make what I said any less true though. Sandhagen should probably be next in line and Nurmagomedov needs at least a few more big wins. I mean ultimately it was Cory who accepted the fight, so good on him I suppose if he is confident he can handle a Dagestani destroyer.

I'm chalking up Cejudo's last performance to ring rust. I think an alternate solid test to see where he's at now would have been Yan. I'm not sure Vera is the guy to show us if Henry is still the same beast from 3 years ago...

Nurmagomedov only needs one more fight to claim the #1 contender spot and Sandhagen is giving it to him. I like Sandhagen a lot but I don't see anyone getting past Nurmagomedov anytime soon. He is the future imo, many people think this and that's exactly why he's fighting Sandhagen for the contender spot. He is held in very high regard and the real ones know this.

Cejudo you can say what you want, if you look at his resume it actually hasn't aged that well other than the DJ fight lol I'm not a Cejudo truther, should have stayed retired, not exciting. Yan isn't even as good as people thought. Everyone said he was the uncrowned champion and well... That hasn't aged well either.

Vera is probably not the guy. Love Chito but he's a slow starter and often needs a finish or to be more impactful. He did it against Font (Font out landed him big time but Vera kept dropping him). Vera is pretty big compared to Cejudo though... Hope he dusts him.

Nurmagomedov has been extremely impressive so far but he is only 1 fight away from #1 contender spot BECAUSE Sandhagen has agreed to fight him. Look at his wins, no one even within the top 20.

Whether or not he ever actually fights Sterling, Merab should technically still be next in line after Ronald McDonald O'Malley.

Agreed yes, Sandhagen is a gamer for giving Nurm this fight. He also knows (I believe) that if he beats Nurmagomedov he's getting a title shot himself.

Merab may have got the opportunity to fight for the belt, but there's this narrative that he won't fight Aljo as they're training partners. Too bad for Merab tbh, I think his style would give Aljo problems.

all the matchups only make sense if they were told theyd get a title shot with a win. BUT, everyone cant get a title shot "next"
sterling said this is his last fight @ bantamweight so hes out win/loss to o'malley
merab hasn't gotten title shot since him and aljo are friends, so you'd think hes next in line
cejudo has been saying he only wants to fight for belt, so i don't see why he would take vera if he isn't promised a title shot with win, and does vera get title shot if he beats cejudo? even if he just loss to sandhagen
sandhagen beats vera in a matchup you would think was for the next title shot, but then sandhagen gets matchup with #11 rank, regardless of potential, you don't beat vera, being that close to title shot, and take #11....unless your guaranteed title shot wtih a win
also with umars potential and showings so far, if he beats sandhagen he's right there as well
and you still have yan out there, who was destroying everyone, lost in a couple of questionable decisions, then merab destroys him, but whoever he has next, a good showing, should put him right back up top
odd matchmaking, someone is going to get fucked out of a deserving title shot

All comes down to number of ppv being sold, they will make the fights that makes them money. I would like to see yan get another shot at sterling tho. Also would like to see omally and sandhagen that would be a great fight think
