I feel like these streamers/youtubers making bank is fine if you consider the amount of content they pump out for the price. It's like $5 a month for literally DAYS of content, whereas going to the movie theater is more expensive and only 2 hours. What makes it crazy/lucrative is the sheer volume of people that watch these guys. It adds up fast. That ninja guy has 4 million people following, over 100 thousand people paying monthly, and you could fill Staples Center 5 times over with the amount of people watching his stream at any moment.
What i feel is toxic for kids in terms of digital crack and stealing mommy's credit cards is in-game micro transactions. It's basically gambling when it comes to Madden/2k pack openings where you could drop $100 and not get ANYTHING.
I watch a shitload of streams, as you know I’m fat and unemployed so I have a lot of free time inbetween eating bags of potato chips and drinking sodas.
I understand being a big fan and subbing to a channel, I personally don’t because as I said before I’m unemployed and have zero money. But I know of so many lesser streamers (than Ninja) making thousands and thousands of dollars a month from streaming, basically part time. 60/K a year for streaming 25 hours a week is absolutely obtainable and I don’t think it’s a healthy trend. They are funny and very skilled at video games, but I just don’t know.
Irl I have zero friends, because of my fatness and lack of money so I don’t really socialize much, haven’t been into micro transactions. That seems like a risky path to go down.
