He starts minimum 5 weeks, more often around 8 for the big weight cuts.
He changes their diet and optimizes it, he is more knowledgeable in foods then most fighters.
BJ Penn had him come out 3 weeks cause hes a dumbass who wasn't 100% committed to his advice and still made weight.
He doesn't even guarentee that you make weight, he just makes sure you do it as healthy as possible.
There is easily ways to get athletes to eat more calories with a schedule and healthier foods and still lose weight. Do you understand how your metabolism works?
There is overweight people who just don't understand how their metabolism works, they wish to lose weight sometimes even going to the gym daily but they don't eat breakfast to start their metabolism and eat unhealthy and unregulated.
I know people who I have helped aided them in losing a ton of weight just by suggesting starting with an apple for breakfast as most people do not eat breakfast. As soon as they start their metabolism early and keep it active often the weight comes off fast.
