They do it for legends. Cub Swanson would be another example of someone being inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame before they call it a career, although I think Lawler has the more decorated career.

Yeah that fight is iconic, but he's being inducted for his legendary career & longevity, while still busting heads.
He's definitely almost done his MMA career, not middle of the road, on the last couple holes of the back 9.
