I agree it was a bit soon and they could have worked with him a bit, let it play out from the fetal position he took.
But O Malley has a history of making refs look stupid for not stopping it sooner. I think the early stoppage was more respect for O Malley’s reputation as a hard hitter than it was hatred towards Sterling.
Calling it an early stoppage is being pretty generous though.
