He had the shot off Dustin who was #5 which still is a bit shaky, but the way the standings were at the time there wasn't anybody for aldo to fight besides arguably Frankie but nobody cared for that rematch
Conor just took the siver fight so he didn't have to wait for aldo

Then aldo pulled out anyways then conor starched Mendes and without a doubt deserved the fight with aldo at that point

A better comparison would've been Elliot got a title shot by winning tuf vs dj... and didn't dj get 2 of his title defenses vs top 11-15 guys? Somewhere around there anyways
Now borg got fight vs dj and doesn't even kind of deserve it either

Dan Henderson got the fight with bisping... gsp is getting it now without a single mw fight and been out of the game for years

I think its too the point he could lose 2-3 fights in a row and still have his name / reputation. No other star has blown up as big as him, even if we use ronda as an example if she came back chances are she would be the main event, even coming off 2 losses in a row. And shes no where close to Conors star status

Ronda has been on Ellen, she's a pretty god damn big deal.

Ronda also defended and was an active champion. We have been prisoners of the moment, after getting the FTW title stripped, if he loses his first attempted defense at 155 would be a lot harder to spin it. He's already went to boxing, he's peaked.

Ya Ronda is the runner up for sure, she blow up fasttt.

But then you have Conor who is hosting "a evening with conor mcgregor" this week and poeple are paying to ask him questions. He also posseses all the good qualities ronda never had. (ability to take a loss, good at acting, etc etc)

I disagree with him peaking, guy has undeniable talent and presents a problem for majority 155'rs. There are a couple matchups I wouldnt favor him but I feel confident in saying he wont ever be mid card haha
