Wasnt round three the one where ankalaev closed distance to avoid the kicks and started actually taking over? Its late but i thought so.. few fights on this im.gonna have another look at.

I agree with this... Jan lost midway when Ank realized he had to switch strategy and close distance to prevent the only thin Jan had going, leg kicks... Ank won that 3-2 no doubt.

The Jan fight being a draw is reasonable. You guys are crazy. The paddy fight is the only absurd result.

. he had some more than 'only' the leg kicks going for him but those were simply stand out-devestating.



Following a back-and-forth bout, Jan Blachowicz vs. Magomed Ankalaev was ruled a split draw. Judge Mike Bell scored the contest 48-47 for Blachowicz, giving the former champion 10-9 scores in each of the first three rounds, while judge Derek Clearly scored the contest 48-46 for Ankalaev, giving Ankalaev the final three rounds as well as a 10-8 in Round 5.

The third scorecard was the decider, and veteran judge Sal D’Amato scored it a 47-47 draw, awarding Blachowicz the rounds one, two, and three, and awarding Ankalaev a 10-9 in Round 4 and a 10-8 in Round 5.


Yeah idk. it was surprising to me. I dont remember who won round 3 really right now, seems the judges got it both ways too. i was just impressed he overcame the leg damage problem from the get go round 3 and turned it around from there somewhere after it was looking very compromised coming out from round2.

Draw or not, i dont know what i think but in the moment at the end of the fight i thought ankalaev really had it. I'm not keeping scores counting strikes tho... but couple commentators (dc, rogan) ankalaev and yan all of them.seem to have agreed ankalaev should have gotten the win..
