Hello, for a while now my ambition has been to become a professional caged fighter
I have always been an athlete coming from high school with 2 years of football experience freshmen - sophmore year minor wrestling experience - and 2 years of rugby
I've always been a big guy with a heavy solid set not muscle but solid fat I'm 5'11 1/2 now @ 280 pounds yet I run a 4.9 second 40 yard dash I constantly blow peoples minds with my speed
and size
throughout highschool my weight was 280 being @ it's worse and 225 being @ it's best
I have always had terrible endurance and I also am affected by a bone disease
But I have always had enough sheer will power, determination, motivation to outwork my peers
I am the type of guy who will work until I either pass out or until my body won't allow me to do more
I have always been a fighter and I've had my fair share of fights in school. I love the excitement and the feeling of blood rushing through my veins
Now that I'm 18 I'm hell bent on becoming a professional fighter.... until recently I didn't even know how to get my foot in the door until
I got a membership @ a local gym and I try to get in everyday. One day saw a guy who interested me, I could tell he was a fighter based off the way he was jump roping so I approached him
and he happened to be professional trainer for the gym and is experienced in boxing and muay thai I knew that was my chance, so I spoke to him and we have been training so far he's taught me the basics of boxing and I am satisfied with what I learned so far.
The hard part to this is the money...
I have a plan thus far
for 1 session a week it cost 140$$$ a month
I have to have my last surgery around june
I figured I could use him to get into fighting shape whilst finishing school (I'm in college) for the semester
and then do what I can to make a speedy recovery and
Find a fighting gym
I am looking for all the advice, resources and anything that you have to offer I am open and willing to do anything to follow my dream
Thats a huge build. Bigger than I ever was and when you cut weight, you'll carry a lot of strength at a lower weight.
Get the fundamentals down. Yes, go speak with the pro trainer and get the boxing footwork and the whole breakdown.
The objective is to be well rounded; work on one element and then expands from there. Focus on jabs and crosses and get the rhythm down. As you progress, you'll learn more muay thai boxing basics.
Rhythm is acquired throughout your own experience and no one else's. I cannot stress that enough. In the past recent years, that is all I did.
Seeing how you go, stick to a high weight endurance and cardio regime whilst alternating heavy lifting every other week. (I can pm you a specific workout list if you require).
As a beginner, even a local gym with a bag is enough for right now. You don't need to spend so much money. Even sparring and getting tips from people more experienced than myself at the time were a huge contribution to what I've acquired.
Give me more info, so I can customize a routine and pathway for you. Do you prefer on the ground? Or striking? What are your comfort zones? (i.e. Mine are striking and clinching/striking in clinch).
I will mention, your undying willpower and ethic is something that will carry you to the next level. As it did for myself.
