At my gym you don't get stripes. You need to hold on untill you get your belt.

Whats with the weird gloves/Head gear?
nice job tho!
weight class?

amateur mma usualy uses headgear and other protection. I'm more surprised about the t-shirt & shorts.

Yeah, I've heard of some gyms that do this. Personally, I enjoy the stripe system but it wouldn't matter if I didn't have any.

CSB:

There is a 4-stripe white belt at my gym, who is getting close to his blue belt. He's very fast, relentless with guard passes and he's able to make 155ish lbs feel like 200. Also has slick armbars from most positions.

For the last two or three weeks he's been beating the piss out of me every time we roll. It's not that he taps me constantly but he's been dominating position so thoroughly that it's been difficult just maintaining guard, let alone getting to an advantageous position to attack. Last time we rolled, I pretty much spent 5 minutes in turtle position trying not to get my back taken or get pushed over into side control. IIRC, he got a couple armbars on me.

Anyways, last night at bjj we rolled. I spent most of the roll dominating position, I tapped him with a bow-n-arrow and was attacking an armbar when time ran out. Just feels REALLY good to do well against him for once!

tl;dr - did good against someone I don't usually do good against, feelsgoodman.jpg

Another great video.

Also, I love the roll / roll to triangle at 2:00. I've only gotten the triangle once or twice, but I use the roll to escape turtle all the time. Excellent technique! I also use the roll at 5:50 a lot to get the back or attack turtle.

That's kind of what happened last night when I was rolling. I was rolling with this blue belt and all the blue belts usually tap the shit out of me but I managed to fend off everything he had and even reversed him a couple times. The best part was he was getting coached the whole time by one of our brown belt instructors. Fucking felt good man.

Totally agree.

It feels great to roll with a higher belt and just survive. Especially when you're used to getting tapped by them constantly.

Surviving is one thing, but actually getting sweeps and some reversals I was like "ZOMGOMZOMOGMOGMOMG"

Absolutely lol.

I rolled with a purple belt last night. He smashed me for the most part but I got a few opportunities to put him on defense, it felt good.

It doesn't seem like much, but stuff like that feels REALLY good. Gets you stoked to continue working hard. "Next time, imma hit that sweep. Just gotta work on...."

:D
