All speculation. And just to be clear, I’m actually an RDA fan. Would love to see Dos Anjos get a huge W over Islam, but it’s just not very likely. Islam will steam roll Dos Anjos en route to his title shot, or Dariush or whoever honestly.

I wouldnt call this a dodge. Islam made a good business move asking for his conditions to be met before stepping in on short notice to fight a former champ when he had fought the previous weekend. That is a risky career decision and he should be paid handsomly for it. Someone in his position should have proper training camps to prepare for highly skilled opponents.

This is a good, devils-advocate take, but the chance to fight him not once, not twice, but three times after calling him out? He’s kind of dodging in that sense. These Dagestan fighters pad the heck out of their records. Not gonna lie tho Oliviera vs Makhachev is an insane fight if/when it happens which is bound to happen eventually. Then we’ll see how good Oliviera the journeyman has really become :D

this was smart either we like him or not smart move nonetheless.

why risk fighting a vet with very strong wrestling on a short notice. Id like to remind everyone islam has the same shoes as khabib and will most likely follow his footsteps as well. Khabib is involved in everything their group do and involved to the roots. How do you think tagir got the bonus , who do you think told islam what to negotiate for the short notice vs RDA etc, imagine what dana hears from khabib in regards to islam. Hate or love these guys they are smart and wont risk a dent in their record when possible padded or not. I wondered why more fighters cant seem to think clearly in the cage and just follow the plan that was build over the training camp; who knew getting punched in the head by the proper hands confuses a person and survival kicks in.

What rubs me the wrong way is how cocky and dominant Makhachev comes across telling RDA he will fill in, and the subtly says to the UFC "With conditions, of course". Not really what he was implying to RDA when he said he would step in, and with their beef it seemed destined to happen. I think MAK shouldn't have said a word publicly, but pitch this idea to the UFC prior to his Twitter Antics. I see both sides, and everyone is very protective of their MAK. I like both fighters BTW.

I was thinking the other day, what's the stat for the following;

Russian fighter has opponent drop out, receives SHORT notice fighter: What is the Win/Loss record for Russian (Dagestan) fighters who receive a SHORT notice replacement fighter and how often does it happen

Someone get me this padded stat asap

i personally think Khabib told him to shut it down after he posted the tweet calling for it lol. thats just my humble opinion though.

e/ excited to see him and Dariush scrap it out though. Going to be a true test for Islam.
