Yeah, reminds me of Sean Brady a bit in the way they fight and where they are at in their careers. Both could potentially be Elite w/ adequate improvements in striking and coaching.
There’s always room for improvement until you’re champ, but from what I saw, Bryce’s striking looked good. Now, he doesn’t really have any knockout power, but he knocked down Barbosa at 272 when he landed a clean right hook right on the chin in the first. That has to say something! Not only could he stand and trade with a notorious striker like Barbosa, he basically out-struck him!
Sean Brady and Bryce Mitchell are great examples of how good wrestling can do wonders for positioning and control that can open up submission opportunities and ground strikes. Bryce could be the next Colby Covington with a (thug) nasty submission game. Wrestling and volume are there, but does his chin hold up? Can he keep the fight on the ground during the majority of his fights? Time will tell.
The difference between Sean Brady and Bryce Mitchell though could be Sean’s chin. At the end of the Chiesa vs Brady fight, he almost got knocked out in round 3 when he let him up and was saved by the final whistle. The mma community will surely keep a close eye on these guys as they take on more fights.
