Just remember some of the guys will fight for 25 mins.

Thats tough after a cut

As opposed to an individual player who is praised for playing a team high of 25 mins in a 60 min game

Or powerlifting in short bursts

I totally agree which is why they should adopt something like the 2 hours weight-ins of the IPF in powerlifting.

I never feel dehydrated when the meet start in fact I feel totally normal and it would be the same if it was a combat sport like mma. Ppl would start to fight at their natural weightclasses and say byebye to health issues related to big weight cuts.

That's the whole point of it. 5lbs =/= 20lbs weight difference used to an advantage come fight night. Something to even out the playing field, be it your sport or MMA, that also does not take a toll on a fighter's health should be promoted and implemented asap.

I think the night before is fine, 2hr before the fight still is way to soon imo

i always thought mma fighters jobs were too easy. i say we make them have to make a certain weight 5 mins before a fight. if that leads to a large percentage of more torn/pulled muscles and tendons, so be it. i think a hydration period is for pussies. actually, why do they even allow water between rounds? i say every fighter must weigh in between every round too.

yea, dumb idea. you act like people wouldnt abuse that. there would still be people cutting 15+ lbs and be in the back with an iv in their arms 5 mins before they fight.
in theory i understand, but it isnt practical. there are much more serious changes to be made 1st (better judging and better gloves).

I see only benefits of doing a 2 hours weight-in. What are the benefits of doing it the night before?

For me it encourages weightcut abuse and health risks. And ppl wonder why fighters run out of gaz afer 1-2 rounds.

It would penalize abuser at a much higher degree and it's not hard to implement unlike judging. UFC and other mma organizations are slaking for this and steroids/drugs abuse it's crazy.

not hard to implement? it would destroy the current state of every ufc division.
and what are you comparing the ufc's steroid problem to? football? baseball? professional bodybuilding?

the main issue if people miss weight then a fight can be cancelled the same day with no alternative to either fill in or replace the figh

/e what they should do is have every fighter weigh in 3 months before a fight, then 1 month before a fight, then 1 week, then the day before if at any point they're not on HEALTHY track they get replaced

also make a certain body% of weight you CAN cut from

say 20 pounds@170, if hendricks weighs in at 195 3 months prior, he can't take the fight, gives the ufc proper time to find someone who can, etc etc etc

PPl change weightclasses all the time. You set a timeframe for the new weight-in to appear like by Jan 2017. It would increase the media coverage on the organization because UFC would be the first combat org. where weight-in are prior to the fight. Only positive would come from this.

Jon jones get caught for taking illegal drugs nothing happens. They are picky about who get a suspension and who doesn't. Steroids is a problem in all sports.

Didn't they bad someone who posted a vid on the internet with coke in it. They pick who get a suspension and who doesn't.

Just ban the damn substance ffs. They are supposed to be athletes...kids watch these sports and and have these athletes as rolemodels.

Rodney 8 years old: ''My rolemodel is Jon Eyepoke Jones because he snort coke and fight midgets''
