santillán's case is particularly interesting since he was still under a protective ban (until july 30th, issued by the german pro boxing federation after a pretty heavy loss mid june), which as far as i understand (please correct me if i'm wrong though) applies worldwide.

do you think the organisers (or his management) should be held accountable for letting him enter the ring that soon again? he obviously wouldn't be dead now, and the risk of him dying in his next fight would most likely also have been significantly smaller. it's a real tragedy for sure.

cmon now, i'm serious. i really think they SHOULD be held accountable to a certain degree. of course it was ultimately the athlete's decision, but the promoter / management do have a responsibility as well - and if they ignore not only common sense (letting him fight just one month after a heavy loss), but even a protective ban issued by a pro boxing federation, that should have legal consequences in my opinion. obviously not 'murder', but some degree of negligence for sure...

its amazing more people aren't dead. no idea how they can get hit in the head hard as fuk hundreds of times in 20 minutes. this after years of punches in other fights and sparring. boxing should be outlawed

Just pro boxing. With the headgear amateur boxing with 14-16 oz gloves is okay.

Outlaw weight cutting.

They're often the same guys that boo during an MMA fight when it goes to the ground and complain during a street fight when you grapple them.

Thata the dumbest statement I've read today. Headgear is literally worse for you.

In this case I 100% agree they should face huge disciplinary actions. If his management got charged with negligent homicide I wouldnt be opposed. At the very very least they should lose all ability to train fighters. The first death is different though. I think that one was just bad luck. His trainer did stop it.

not really anything you can do. either allow this sport and accept the deaths/ brain damage or outlaw it.

as society we agree that these deaths are worth our minimal entertainment. sick? yes. but thats the world we live in.

i dont see how taking punches to the brain can become safer. blame what u want, we all know the problem is the "sport" itself. outdated barbaric nonsense that was once passed off as being scientific.

just another statistic. work hard your whole fucking life to become a talking point about "bad luck". fuck boxing man. it simply isnt worth it.

You're still mad about our last discussion? Grow up, man.

A mature response would be: "Depends on your perspective. With headgear you don't see punches coming as well, which may lead to more concussions." or "Headgear gives the false sense of safety, making people go harder during sparring or just eat more punches." Or something like that.

But no, mr. just says "dumbest statement" & making an own statement without elaboration.

Grow up.
