obviously it would be much healthier for the fighters, people fckuing died cutting weight

what other impacts would that have?

i will start by adding something else very obvious:

- there would be a lot more heavyweights LOL

e/
to be more clear:

the idea here is that the fighters weigh-in JUST before they enter the ring to fight. they weigh-in as their gloves and mouth-piece are being checked

Everybody would typically be fighting same people.. if everybody is doing it then obviously everybody would go up a weight class

I think it'd be stupid for it.. You'd still have guys abuse it and cut a shit ton of weight and try to put it on quickly unless they weigh in as they enter cage.. if they do that they'll need a more open weight tolerance because guys would have to get exactly 185 or something and if they naturally weigh 190 they'll have to cut 5 pounds and walk into cage pretty hungry more than likely

If it's an hour before they get into cage then guys will try to abuse still and probably die more frequently than they do now from extreme cuts

Got my vote, obviouisly.

Frankie Edgar Heavyweight Champ 2016.

Edit:

Living healthy around a certain weight outweighs the health benefits of cutting 20 pounds various amounts of times.
Most of all it's fair game for all fighters.

Weight cutting is a sport of its own and has been around since weight based class sports.

Its not for everyone
Its a huge part of wrestling culture

Just because a few baddies cant handle it doesnt mean it should be banned

Just to put you in perspective I compete in powerlifting and there is many federations that have the 24 hours weight-ins but the biggest and most serious one (IPF) use a 2 hours weight-ins.

I think it's great because with 24 hours weight-ins some ppl cut a 20-30 lbs so over 1 weightclass. With the 2 hours weight-ins most I've seen is 6-8 lbs but it's usually uder 5 lbs.

Just remember some of the guys will fight for 25 mins.

Thats tough after a cut

As opposed to an individual player who is praised for playing a team high of 25 mins in a 60 min game

Or powerlifting in short bursts

yeah i don't think day of weight ins would be good at all even if it'd force people to only cut 5-8 pounds they still won't be able to drink / eat whatever they want and they'll have that to worry about right before their fight and complicate things
you can't tell me these guys that are "cutting too much weight" have more than 5 pounds on their opponent when it comes time to step into the cage.. it's obvious cutting 20-25 pounds is very possible and doable while maintaining your health so if a guy is only cutting 5-10 pounds or fighting at his "natural weight" then it is simply their fault for not being skilled enough nutrition wise to make the cut

there's pros and cons to both sides of it.. guys with bigger weight cuts tend to be slower / have less gas than the guys that cut little to no weight whereas they usually hit harder and are harder to grapple with, in the end it's all about who is the better man though, you can't tell me 5 pounds or so is that big of a difference in an MMA bout or fight in general

the only big difference is the height / reach factor.. which there's plenty of guys that are at lower weight classes with big reach advantages, but weigh the same as the shorter guys.. it's all body types, obviously the longer guys don't have as much muscle as the shorter guys if they weigh the same (jon jones legs / 10)
