Just let my NA SCNL game stay open for 7 hours, in anticipation HeidiPlaysDiablo's (NA -- guessed based on previous results) SCNL walk.

Just set all game settings to low to save some power.

Came back now in the morning EU, 7 hours later.
Clone waited for me.
Should be a great strategy for SCL -- just go to Asia and go to sleep/work with D2R on to get a clone.

Some things were off:
I'm used to there being an eclipse/instant nightime when Diablo is actively walking, but it was back to normal day/night cycle when I picked up the game, and it was daytime ingame -- the opposite of the expected.
DClone was still there -- spawned on Bishbosh on my way to Rakanishu, making me believe it didn't work, until I explored Cold Plains and found DClone in plain daylight.

AFK-ing even tabbed out of the game does not cause a kick for inactivity from the servers, even after 6+ hours of AFK.
There is no apparent limit to when you can spawn DClone in a walked game, but the night/eclipse effect passes without DClone being spawned and killed after a while:
Lack of darkness/eclipse/the dark sun effect is no indication the game doesn't have DClone active.

wow, I never knew the d clone would spawn in a day time game let alone if the player was afk.
