Lets say someone posts and says "Sojs sold on IP 31!"

Are they talking about west or europe? Ladder or NL?

Asking what realm is a valid question.

It should not matter if ladder or non-ladder, HC or SC, IP is one and the same, at least back in old days it didnt matter and people from NL was selling sojs to spawn DC for their Ladder chars.
But I was gone for a long time (stopped at v1.12) - has it changed?

Yea it changed. June 2017, Blizzard separated ladder and NL.
