Hello everyone,
Diablo 2. Every time you mention it, someone reinstalls it.
It's been a couple of years since I last played. I had an account on D2JSP as well. Unfortunately, the account and characters are long gone, so starting from scratch. EU Softcore ladder. I see that they got rid (somehow) of the spam bots, which I think is awesome.
Unlike the happy days of the 2000's, I've found out that I don't have as much spare time, and, worst of all, I've forgotten many of the game's mechanics (I was never that skilled a player). I went through most of the guides in the respective section here, and that has helped a lot, but I wanted to clarify a few things with the people in this community. I'll take it nice and slow and try to enjoy the ride as much as I can.
1. If memory serves right, at this point in the ladder (consolidated economy, relatively little time left until the reset), a cold/fire sorc would be the best char. I used to play a fireball-frozen orb build back in the day. Would you suggest a different one? I know that the blizz sorc is the most popular, but I've never actually played one. I stuck with what felt like the easiest gameplay, and I also had the help of some kind strangers who practically loaded me with the basic required stuff (spirit and insight, crappy torch/anni).
2. I'm a little fuzzy on the whole leveling routine - I checked the guide and know the basic levels at which to skip from Tristram runs to Tombs to Baal runs. What I can't figure out is how to best go about getting rushed on this one character I have past the roadblocks - ancients etc. The last time I played a friend helped me, but he has long since quit the game. Are strangers still willing to assist? Would trading the rune drop in the Hellforge work?
3. Once I reach a decent enough level, I feel confident enough about running Hell Andi/Meph/Pits until I gather sufficient personal wealth. Do you have any additional suggestions on what I could do to gather said wealth? A long time ago I would be trading perfect gems. I understand that tokens and essences may also be useful. Keys could be a source of income (especially with the Countess dropping runes), but I'm not sure I'm personally skilled enough for Nihlatak.
Any advice you might have about starting off would be greatly appreciated. The little I've had time to play (up to level 15, Tristram runs) people have been surprisingly friendly.
Thank you for still playing!
Edit: I somehow managed to post this in the wrong forum, I sincerely apologize! If this thread can be closed, I'll repost in the correct section, the general discussion.
