You realize that every member of the organisation can have dozen of accounts (each) already connected on the golden Ip even before sharing the golden IP to the contributors, right? That means it can be very hard/very long for every contributors to reach the golden IP, even if provided with the right tools and support. The more people already connected on the golden IP the harder it is to connect to it. So if there is a deadline, like 2 hours, some contributors might not get it in time. Then we need to factor in all the IP leakers/leechers that will take spot on the golden IP before some of the contributors. Jobiker is right, this is BS.

What would you propose then? Someone has to decide the final IP, why not the one organizing the event?

My first run had us use a random number generator for someone to choose the IP, but it was a hard IP to get. Later, we used IP submission (everyone submitted 5~ game IPs) and tracked the collisions and picked one of the highest.
