Played hardcore in d2lod cause the economy was slightly less shitty for a legit player but when you load the bo barb barb the chant sorc and the summon necro every game it starts getting old after 4-5 ladder resets

But yea there also the option to not do that and die, then I guess you become a true alpha male playing 500 hp sorc in hardcore

No, it’s not just one extra step. It’s many steps in your build, in your equipment and in your playstyle.

Not to mention that you may not want to spend god knows how much on the BiS equipment since you still can die in some situations. And also that you need to balance between safety gear and killing speed gear to be efficient. And to have fun. Not everybody builds immortal sorcs with zero fcr and close to zero damage just not to die. So it’s a fun balancing act in how much risk you want to take on and how much you want to mitigate via gear and playstyle.

But you try to trivialize it all with the „one extra step” label to make it sound simple and boring. Because that fits your thesis.

Also, loading up 2 prebuff chars into a game just to play with the third one reminds me of how some people play the game with cheat codes and then complain that it’s easy. Would you play chess with a computer recommending you all the best moves and then complain the same about chess? Sure, it’s not illegal to be multiboxing in d2. You are just taking a lot of fun out of the game and then assume everybody does the same to ruin their fun.
