If you get into 55 before he walks you sell soj or wait for soj sales until it says "Diablo walks the earth" then find the 1st super unique monster and in it's place you find Diablo.
Super unique monsters are the ones with actual names as well as their own pack of minions, like shenk for instance.

soj sales are separated by realm and ladder only, so softcore ladder will count for hardcore ladder..
