Because of invites, same happend to EQ:Landmark. You bought the pack got you're 4 friend invite keys and then refunded it thus you would have 4 people to play without paying anything same happend in AA. I think you could also get it and install alpha + have the patron status and when refunded you kept it for a while or atleast your access to alpha servers, was a lot of exploiting with buying/refunding unfortenetaly
