Never played this game myself, I played WoW for a number of years and this game looks strangely addicting and fun.

My roommate who built this chess-set in his home thing, mentioned that raiding and dungeon based content is actually much harder than WoW. It's a lot less forgiving. Would you say this game is pretty good/comparable to Vanilla WoW? Or BC?

Truth be told there isn't much on the market to compare it to at the moment. But without a solid set of people at your side, you're going to find yourself more frustrated than entertained.
The game heavily revolves around each or atleast most people pulling their own weight. And since most people haven't had to do that in a long long time... it can be frustrating.

WoW is garbage. So yes.

I played WoW for a number of years and then stopped playing MMOs all together after a quit a few years ago.
This game looked cool so I bought it and I am sucked back in, the content is amazing and it's actually really challenging.

Be ready for the QQ this game is too hard though, it's all over the place.

To answer your question btw this has a more vanilla feel atm.
The way the 40 man's are forcing servers to work together is really xool.
