just started playing and im looking for some info on whats best while leveling, and then again whats best endgame. thanks.

I'd just recommend doing whatever your class can wear.
Light gear? Tailor and survivalist

medium gear? outfitter and survivalist

heavy gear? armorer and mining.

This will help you once you reach level 50 to craft level 50 gear and have an easier time in veteran adventures.

Also, try to do the most crafting dailies you can while you level, if you have the required materials. They give crafting vouchers, which will be used to buy expert research schematics for better gear.

Survivalist is the best profession in the game.
Levels while you level just from killing mobs.
Mobs give extra drops.

Tier 5 Trees are 1-1.3 gold each.

Then since you're already gathering trees it's best to take a second gathering skill to make it much more efficient.

one last question, salvaging drops. is it really worth it?

I have gotten 3 Shadow blast fragments which is 1.5 plat each so id say yes

Anything that would vendor for under 2 gold is worth salvaging.
Unless your server has really low rune fragment prices, then it's more like 1.2 gold or under.

The exception being high lvl blue gear. Then it's like 2.5.
